U2 Sphere Las Vegas: Review (video & pics)

The Sphere Las Vegas opened on September 29, 2023, with U2 and is already considered a symbol of technological innovation and entertainment. It cost $2.3 billion to build, and some are even calling The Sphere the eighth wonder of the world.

This monumental building can be seen far and wide across the Las Vegas Valley, and it generates excitement for visitors worldwide who see it on their social media or when they arrive in Las Vegas from their airplane window or hotel room.

Not only that, but U2, one of the most iconic and legendary bands in the world, is doing The Sphere’s first residency. The shows are pretty much sold out, and tickets are re-selling for hundreds of dollars more than the original ticket price.

The U2 UV performance is doing so well at The Sphere. U2 just announced they’ll extend their residency from 25 to 37 shows. You can try buying your tickets from TicketMaster, but since they are likely sold out, you may need to buy them from a third party like Stub Hub or Vivid.

The Venue

Before we get into the incredible performance by U2, I think it’s important to highlight the venue itself. I can see what the hype is all about. The Sphere is honestly a sight to behold. It has futuristic architecture, a towering presence across the valley, and a stunning LED exterior that everyone needs to experience for themselves.

The Sphere Las Vegas truly stands as a testament to modern technology and engineering, and it really is awe-inspiring to see what we can achieve in the 21st century. When you walk inside the venue, you are just in awe at the magnitude of it all. It is the modern equivalent of The Colosseum in Rome.

U2: Legendary Rockstars

U2 is an Irish rock band formed in 1976. I grew up in the 80’s and remember listening to their albums as a child.  The crew for this show consisted of Bono, The Edge, Adam Clayton, and Larry Mullen Jr. Bono sounded great live. The energy in the arena was palpable, and there was no empty seat to be found.

Setlist & Performance

The U2 setlist was a mix of the greatest hits, deep cuts, and other surprises for loyal fans. They played all your favorites like “Where the Streets Have No Name,” “I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For,” “Desire,” and “Light My Way.” The evening crescendos with songs like “Beautiful Day” and “With or Without You.”

Bono had an amazing stage presence; he was as magnetic as ever. You can tell that he’s very passionate, and his vocals sounded great live. He built an emotional connection with the band and the fans who were there. The band kept the vibe uplifting, and the language was clean. I would definitely recommend U2 at The Sphere Las Vegas as a great concert for families and children.

The Visual Spectacle

U2 concerts are known for being visual spectacles, but let’s take that up a few notches by adding a 360-degree LED screen that creates stunning visual effects that envelopes the entire audience. When you take awesome music and combine it with stunning visuals, you get an immersive experience like this one. I dare you to find a concert that compares.

The Sphere’s Acoustics

The sphere was built to have amazing acoustics, and as far as I’ve heard, it is one of the premier acoustic venues in the world. You know you’re walking into an acoustic sanctum when you leave the outer promenade and walk through the hallway into the actual Venue. From powerful rock songs to soft ballads, you could almost hear a whisper sitting from the top. To be safe, we picked up some ear protection from guest services, and you can see us wearing them in the picture below.

An Unforgettable Performance

U2 at The Sphere was one of the best and most memorable concerts I’ve ever been to… and I saw Taylor Swift’s Era’s Tour earlier this year, so that’s saying something. It was a magical night full of etched memories, and I can’t wait to see who plays The Sphere next!
