When we planned our Florida trip, Kennedy Space Center was one of those places I thought the kids would “probably like.” What I didn’t expect was for our entire family — adults included — to walk away completely blown away by the experience.
Honestly, this ended up being one of the coolest family attractions we’ve ever done.
As a mom, I’m always looking for activities that are fun for kids but still interesting enough for adults to enjoy too. Kennedy Space Center somehow managed to be exciting, educational, interactive, and emotional all at the same time.

First Impressions
The second we walked through the entrance, the kids were excited.
There are rockets everywhere, giant displays, hands-on exhibits, and actual spacecraft that immediately make you realize this isn’t just another museum. Everything feels immersive from the start.
The entire complex is also really clean and easy to navigate, which I appreciated more than I expected. Sometimes large attractions with kids can feel exhausting, but Kennedy Space Center was surprisingly organized and manageable.

The Space Shuttle Atlantis Was Incredible
Without question, the highlight for our family was seeing the Space Shuttle Atlantis.
I honestly wasn’t prepared for how emotional and impressive this exhibit would feel in person. When the shuttle is revealed, it’s one of those moments where everybody just stops talking for a second.
Even my kids were completely amazed by the size of it.
The exhibit itself is incredibly interactive with simulators, hands-on displays, and activities where kids can test docking spacecraft or experience launch simulations.
This was the area where we probably spent the most time because there was so much to do.

Perfect for Kids Who Love Hands-On Activities
One thing Kennedy Space Center does really well is keeping kids engaged.
There are interactive exhibits everywhere, including launch simulators, touch-screen games, astronaut training experiences, and opportunities to climb inside recreated space capsules.
It never felt like we were dragging the kids through a history lesson. They were genuinely interested the entire day.
Even my child who normally gets bored at museums stayed engaged for hours.
The Bus Tour Is Worth It
Definitely do the bus tour.
The tour takes you behind the scenes to areas you can’t access on foot, including views of the launch pads and the massive Vehicle Assembly Building (VAB).
The Apollo/Saturn V Center was another huge highlight for our family. Standing underneath the Saturn V rocket honestly makes you feel tiny.
As parents, we loved the historical side of the exhibits, while the kids mostly thought the giant rockets were the coolest thing ever.
Food & Break Areas
The food was about what I expected for a theme park-style attraction.
There were burgers, pizza, chicken tenders, salads, and kid-friendly options throughout the park. We found plenty of shaded seating areas and indoor spaces to cool off, which made the day much easier with kids.
Florida heat is no joke, so having air-conditioned exhibits throughout the park was honestly a lifesaver.

Tips for Families
If you’re visiting with kids, I’d highly recommend getting there right when the park opens because there’s a LOT to see.
Wear comfortable shoes because you’ll walk more than you think, and plan for this to be a full-day experience. We easily spent the entire day there and still felt like we could have seen more.
I’d also recommend downloading the Kennedy Space Center app beforehand because it helped us keep track of showtimes and exhibits.
Final Thoughts
Kennedy Space Center ended up being one of those rare family attractions that completely lived up to the hype.
It was educational without feeling boring, exciting without feeling chaotic, and interactive enough that both kids and adults stayed entertained all day long.
As a mom, I loved that my kids walked away inspired and genuinely curious about space and science afterward.
If you’re visiting Florida with kids, I honestly think Kennedy Space Center is one of the best family experiences you can do.
