In the heart of Hawaii, nestled on the scenic North Shore of Oahu, lies a gem of cultural immersion and entertainment: the Polynesian Cultural Center Luau. This review will explore the enchanting experience that awaits visitors at this remarkable destination, highlighting the unique aspects that make the Polynesian Cultural Center Luau a must-visit for anyone visting Hawaii.
A Warm Hawaiian Greeting
Upon arrival, the atmosphere is immediately welcoming. A traditional Hawaiian greeting of lei and the soft melodies of ukulele set the tone for an evening of enchantment. As you enter the Polynesian Cultural Center, you’re immediately transported into a world that celebrates the rich heritage of the Pacific Islands and, even more specifically, Hawaii.

The Venue
The luau is set in a spacious, open-air venue, allowing the gentle island breeze to add to the ambiance. The seating is well-organized, ensuring that every guest has a good view of the stage. As the sun begins to set, the area is beautifully lit, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.

Seating
Seating is “first-come-first seated,” but that didn’t impact us because the only tables that seat six people or more are at the very back. This didn’t bother us, though. We loved having quick access to and from the buffet and could still see everything from an elevated level in the venue.
The Ali’i Luau Menu
No review of the Polynesian Cultural Center Luau would be complete without mentioning the feast and menu itself. The buffet-style meal is a highlight, featuring an array of Polynesian delicacies. Traditional Hawaiian dishes like kalua pork, cooked in an underground oven known as an ‘imu,’ and poi, a unique taro paste, are must-tries.
There are also options like lomi-lomi salmon, tropical fruits, and an assortment of desserts that cater to a variety of tastes. The food is not only delicious but also an insight into the culinary traditions of the Hawaiian islands.
The stunning backdrop of tropical landscapes and the warm service enhance the dining experience.

World-Class Entertainment
The entertainment at the Luau is nothing short of spectacular. The performers, adorned in traditional attire, bring the stories and traditions of their ancestors to life, making for an unforgettable experience.
The Ali’i Luau is not just a traditional Hawaiian feast but a presentation and tribute to Queen Lili’uokalani, the last Sovereign of Hawaii.

Interactive Activities and Workshops
Before the Luau begins, guests can engage in various interactive activities and presentations at the Polynesian Cultural Center. Check out my Review of the Polynesian Cultural Center and Explore all 6 Island Villages represented at the PCC.
Activities include ukulele lessons, weaving demonstrations, and even learning basic hula moves. These activities provide a hands-on approach to understanding Polynesian culture, making the Polynesian Cultural Center Luau entertaining and an educational highlight of the day.

The Polynesian Cultural Center’s Cultural Preservation
A key aspect of the Polynesian Cultural Center Luau is its commitment to preserving and sharing the heritage of the Pacific Islands. The center employs people from various Polynesian nations, ensuring that the cultures are represented authentically and respectfully. This commitment to cultural preservation is evident in every aspect of the Luau, from the performances to the educational activities.

Tickets & Pricing
The Ali’i Lu’Au Package is around $150.00 for children and $189.00 for adults.
At face value, this may give you some sticker shock. However, the Ali’i Lu’Au Package gives you a lot of bang for your buck since it is an all-day ticket to visiting the six Polynesian islands, dinner at the authentic Hawaiian luau, a flower lei welcome, a pineapple smoothie, and a ticket to the Ha’ Breath of Life show at the Pacific Theater.
If you are using the “All Inclusive” GoOahu City Pass, you will have to pay to upgrade to the Ali’i Luau.

Conclusion
The luau at the Polynesian Cultural Center is more than just a dinner show; it’s an immersive experience that celebrates the rich history of the Hawaiian Islands. The combination of delicious food, spectacular performances, and interactive elements makes for an unforgettable evening.
Whether you’re a first-time visitor to Hawaii or a returning enthusiast, the Polynesian Cultural Center Luau is an experience that shouldn’t be missed, providing a rich and immersive journey through the heart of Hawaii.
